Is to make the student understand the subject thoroughly and encourage them to participate in group discussions, seminars and enable them to develop their personality, character, way of expression, and other qualities essential for a Dental Surgeon to serve the community and nation effectively.

- Basic curriculum is designed by the Dental council of India and Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences.
- For the 1st year students special attention is given to clinically oriented topics.
- 2nd year students are posted in various Dental clinics to observe the procedures.
- Integrated teaching involving all the students is well appreciated.

Integrated teaching
To have better understanding of subject and their clinical importance, to connect what is learned in basic science departments with clinical implementation, Integrated teaching is done as a part of regular teaching, in which under guidance of faculty members juniors speak on the basic sciences like anatomy physiology etc., and seniors discuss about the clinics like signs and symptoms, management and prognosis of certain ailment


HORIZONTAL INTEGRATION
Certain difficult topics like nervous system is taught simultaneously in different departments, to have better understanding by the students.

Special care is given to slow learners by counseling, giving special attention in class, giving them home work and conducting remedial classes, so that they pass the university exam.

Central feed back system is being adopted to check the teaching – learning – evaluation of the staff members, meeting is being conducted with staff members and counseling is being done how to improve them selves.

BASIC SCIENCE DEPARTMENTS ROLE IN PG TEACHING
Basic science departments conduct regular classes of basic sciences for PG (MDS) students to refresh their knowledge.
Biochemistry, pathology and Microbiology Departments help PG students in their research work.
General Anatomy Department help Maxillofacial Department PGs to dissect and revise surgical anatomy and oral pathology students to learn histology.
